June 26th 2008 – Martina and Claudia from Bavaria (southern Germany )

continued from feedback:
But I gladly recommend Western Wanderer to anyone camping in the
West, e.g. Grand Canyon or National Parks. We had the basic set and it
contained all the basics we needed – tent (inc. all you needed to set it
up), sleeping gear with all the details inc. pillows, and everything to actually
cook meals and eat them decently (cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates,
cutlery, even a plastic “sink” and towel to clean up afterwards).
The only thing we had to add was some detergent for washing up (soap
did very well) – and some tentrope to ensure the tent stayed where it
was during the storm. Also our tent was comfortably spacious, we could
easily keep “indoors” without getting cramped.
For anyone who would like to build a camping fire at
night I also recommend taking along a small axe or
anything similar to downsize the wooden logs for the
fire. But that’s optional and definitely “on top” – in our
case, we didn’t really miss that as we had no intention
of starting a campfire in the storm and ending up with
a forest fire instead.

By the way for all Europeans who are not familiar with
the gas cartridges you have to buy for the stove – one
lasts easily 2-3 days (2 complete meals for 2 persons a
day) and costs about $2 or $2,50 in a large store e.g.
in or around Vegas – in the National Parks however
that may be three or four times that much. Planning
ahead helps. J
The support you and your husband provided, Jennifer,
was equally wonderful – starting at the beginning
when making reservations for the gear right until the
end when we came to drop it off. That made it all so
absolutely easy. Thank you once again – also for the
suggestions what we could do – and maybe even do
better – next time. Camping in the US does differ from
camping in Europe when it comes right down to the
(organisational and US specific) details.
WE will be back for sure – we want to camp in Grand
Canyon and of course we will contact Western
Wanderer again for a complete set of camping gear.

Germany )
