The Grand Canyon National Park is more than 1,218,375 acres (almost
5000 square kilometers) and is situated on the Colorado Plateau in
northwestern Arizona. The Grand Canyon consists of raised plateaus and
basins characteristic of the southwestern United States. Water erosion has
cut deeply through the rock, forming numerous steep-walled canyons.
Forests are found at higher elevations while the lower elevations are
comprised of a series of desert basins.
It is also the biggest natural tourist attractions in the Southwest. Camping
at the Grand Canyon is a wonderful alternative when visiting the
Southwest. It puts you right in the middle of the natural beauty that you
will find here.
