Spring - April/May/June
The Desert comes to life
Sponsored Links
April, May and June are beautiful months to visit the Southwest. Slowly the
desert begins to come to life. Although evening temperatures may dip below
40 degrees, daytime temperatures are lovely - 70 to 80 degrees on average.
This is the perfect time to visit Death Valley. But the Southwest is more than
only desert.
Camping gives you the opportunity to truly experience the beauty of the
Southwest.
In the mountains you can tell that 'Spring has sprung', although it will take
slightly longer at the cooler alpine temperatures. Yosemite, Zion & Bryce - to
name a few - will still have temperatures around 32 degrees at night.
However, with our sleeping bags and fleece liners, this is not a problem.
The southern regions of Arizona, New Mexico and California do not have frost.
Also, the spring is the driest time of the year. (most of the showers fall in the
summer as thunderstorms.)
The southern part of the Southwest is also the least visited, which is a shame.
There are numerous beautiful parks here: White Sands National Monument,
Carlsbad Caverns, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Anza-Borrega
Desert State Park to name a few.
